May 2010: Mobile Apps for Site Inspections

One of the challenges with compliance is managing the voluminous paperwork that continually flows in from every side (let me hear an Amen, brother). Field inspection results, vital for extracting site-specific compliance data, are typically hand written on forms (if not first on a napkin) that then have to be collected, compiled, and recorded. It is the exception, rather than the rule, when these inspections are both done right and transcribed accurately into your database where results can be properly reviewed and reported against. New mobile applications promise to make conducting and collecting data from these important inspections as easy and seamless as downloading an iTune.

If you are a current Titan customer, your field reps are already using Titan’s on demand database for visual inspections. But laptops are expensive and not as easy to lug around in the field as are the ubiquitous, inexpensive mobile device. So Titan is introducing a new set of mobile applications that link directly into Titan’s EDGE compliance database, and make inspections nearly fool proof.

Through a series of simple fields, the application allows inspections to be conducted faster and more thoroughly with the touch of a finger (or stylus). The device asks field representatives all the right questions, prompting each appropriate option for selection. What’s more, it will not allow the inspections to be completed without input of all the required data.  These requirements can be customized to include whatever data you want to ensure is captured. In other words, you’ll never have another incomplete, half-done site inspection again. The application simply won’t allow it.
